Urological Problems

I am a 25 year old male.  My symptoms are as follows:

(1) Cloudy urine;
(2) Frequent feeling of urgency;
(3) Occasional burning on urination and ejaculation;
(4) Weak urine flow.

I am very frustrated, as I have seen two urologists (one for about a year) and neither have made any significant headway.  First they hypothesized that I had a prostate infection and put me on all kinds of antibiotics -- to no avail.  Second I tried flomax, which had a host of terrible side effects and didn't really clear up the problem.  Third they they found what looked to be a small stricture and tried to open it up manually -- this didn't provide any relief either.

I have been tested for STD's and all my tests have come back negative.  I also had a PSA screening, which my doctor said looked fine -- though I heard PSA tests aren't very reliable.  I'm really sort of at a loss.  The only other thing I might include in the symptoms list is that lately I have been having stomach problems -- stomach aches and "acid" stomach.  Who knows if they are related.

Anyways, can anybody think of anything?  I'm a bit worried about this.

Hi,

I'm 45 and have had symptoms of UTI and prostatitis. I however have axperienced stomach problems as well.
The problem that you are experiencing with acid can be due to a hiatus hernia. I have had this severely since about 1999. I just have had a motility study and gastroscopy to check things out but have not yet received the results.

I have been on Flomax since 1996 and have not experienced any negative side effects from it. It is possible that you could have several different things causing your problems.

I have several conditions that cause all my problems. Prostatitis and a neurogenic bladder being 2 of my problems.

Make sure that you are diagnosed correctly.

All the best.

Hi,
The symptoms are suggestive of a UTI only. However, a UTI is uncommon in males. The doctors did the right thing by thinking about UTI/Prostatitis as the signs & symptoms do point towards these diagnoses only. Sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea or chlamydia can also present in a similar way. I would have thought and treated on the similar lines. However, considering your age I wouldn’t have got done the PSA test. I don’t think the acid problem and the symptoms you’re suffering from have got any relation. The possibility of proteinuria (protein in urine) due to a primary kidney disease needs to be looked into by doing other tests like 24 hr protein excretion and the other possibility is kidney stone disease which can be diagnosed with an ultrasound of urinary tract. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
