Painful Urination

Hello,
I am a 19 year old famale who got a UTI around 6 moths back. Having tried Anti biotics form all three generations, the symptoms don't seem to have gone away. I still feel pain during and sometimes even after urination.
My culture showed no growth and the Ultrasound was also clear. The Urine DR, however, showed a trace of white blood cells.
I have also tried taking cranberry supplements but they just make my condition worse.
What should the next step be? Any tips, please?
Please help.

Hello,
WBC in urine is indicative of infection. In such a case you should get a urine culture sensitivity done to identify the infecting organism and getting specific antibiotics prescribed for these.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Thanks.

Hello,
From the symptoms the possibilities of UTI and kidney stones have been ruled out by urine tests and ultrasound. It is important to rule out any bladder infection as well. Also urethral syndrome or urethritis has to be ruled out. It is a primarily female syndrome in which women suffer from irritative bladder symptoms (urinary frequency, urgency, burning , and a hesitant or slowed urinary stream) in the absence of any objective urologic findings. In this the diagnosis can be made only by the proper collections of urine specimens from both the urethra and the bladder. These specimens will reveal the presence of white blood cells in the urethral washings, while the midstream (bladder) specimen will be free of cells.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
