Hi Trm,
My opinion on your Question would be that your body will tell you if you have a over% of vitamins in your body. The side effects are normally nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramps.
Not so!! Some vitamins actually stay in your body. Vitamins are broken up into two categories: fat soluble, such as A, D, E or K, and water soluble, including all of the B vitamins and vitamin C. Fat-soluble vitamins stay in your body, whereas water-soluble vitamins are absorbed immediately, with any excess being excreted in urine.
It is not ok. You have to reduce the dose of vitamins which you take everyday.
The RDA is nothing more than a baseline which has been identified as preventing certain health problems so the body would 'function'.
In terms of actual vitamins though, those RDA levels aren't nearly enough to make a difference when it comes to actual health for the better.
I wouldn't be worried about 'going over 100%' with eating food.
If anything, it is very likely that you will just be over in the green range just above 'baseline'.
In short... it is not a problem or dangerous.
To prevent unwanted side effects, avoid vitamin supplements that contain mega amounts
-- more than 100 percent of the recommended daily allowance
-- of particular nutrients and those that promise miraculous benefits.
