Topamax
I could easily get a prescription for Topamax as I have migraines and my doc and I talked about it at our last visit. I would also LOVE the weight loss side effect. Anyone that has or is taking Topamax - does it make you feel nervous? Does it make your heart beat faster and/or palpitations? I have anxiety so I can't use it if it will make me more nervous. Anybody have bad side effects from Topamax?
Hi, I have been on topamax for years and am now taking 300 mg a day. I am 32 years old. I am bulimic. Topamax has saved my life as far as the binge eating goes, however, my thinking is all over the map!
I drive past my house, I forget appointments that are at the same time every week, I'm a wreck. I live w/ a planner at the hip. They should coin this drug "dope-a-max". Symptoms never fully disappear, atleast, not for me and I am frustrated. I too, have major anxiety, but I never thought to relate that to the topamax. I just thought it was part of my depression. I'm discouraged to see so many people suffering from the same side effects that I have. This is truly a disappointment.

I have been taking Topomax for 3 weeks for migraines. The First week I took 15 mg twice a day and and now 30 mg twice a day.So far..... I feel great, no headaches!!!! I do have some side effects some tingle in hands feet, coke tastes flat. I hope it does not change or get worse cause honestly, it is nice not to have headaches everyday!!! I have had migraines since elementary school. I am now 35 yrs. The imtrex is nice too, do not get me wrong but if i run out or don't get take it in time> Nice not to have a migraine. Hope for someone this is a positive post for them to read. My dosage amount is alot less then some of the above posted.

Hi I was giving topamax for moods.... I began having panic attacks which I've never ever had... after being on topamax for several months, I finally stopped.... well I've continued to have those panic attacks for years afterwards now.. Last night I had three alone during my sleep... Anyone else have this long lasting side effect??????

well, it's been 5 weeks now on Topamax and all I have to say is I think it's working for my nerve pain, at least I've only experience pain if I did too much around the house. I still take a narcotic at bedtime, but other than that, I think it's helping. My migraines are gone-with only one sinus headache lately. The other thing that is exciting for me is that I dropped over 10 pounds in the first 10 days (which I know was way too fast-but couldn't help it), So far in 5 weeks I have lost 15 pounds....I just was not interested in food at all due to the taste-NOTHING taste good to me-I just wasn't hungry at all-just very thirsty all the time. I was addicted to diet coke...I still have the same diet coke in my fridg that I bought over a month ago because I cannot drink it! I have the tingling in my left foot from time to time, also in my fingers as well....hair loss, Im still trying to figure this one out-I do lose hair normally, Im just trying to see if its more-so now then before? Im watching carefully and informing my hairdresser of this...and the other annoying thing is my hair if I dont wash it (which I don't everyday) smells like a bag of "chips"...or smells burnt, or cooked or something....can't put my finger on it-just doesn't smell right...UGH! Other than that-feel pretty good.....Tommy
I've just recently been put on Topamax for nerve pain, and I haven't seen a lot of comments about how this works or helps? My dr also said that it will help with my migraines, which I get 2-3 a month, and will assist with any weight loss goals...well, I've just started, and I need to know is there anyone who is taking this for pain? Nerve pain? Any feedback would be great....

Man I am REALLY glad I read alot of these. I am about to be on my 3rd week of this med and my biggest gripe is the way my tonge feels. It feels like I burned it and I cannot taste things like they should. But from the sounds of it, it seems normal. The tingling and stuff would be hard for me to judge cuz I am always losing feeling in my hands and feet anyhow. And as far as the weight loss have not lost any yet. On it for constant migraines though. started with 25mg a day, just got finished with 25mg 2x a day, now I am going to 25mg in the am and 50mg in the pm. I hope that this feeling goes away on my tongue soon, it hurts ALOT!!!
