I am not sure what is going on

Okay,I have been on birth control for 4 years now. My last menstral cycle started on July 3, 2013, then I started by birth control like normal on July 7, 2013. But my doctor put me on antibiotics which I took July 9-16, and when I googled the type of antibiotic it said it could make my birth control ineffective. Birth control is the only thing I use for protection against pregnancy. I am supposed to start my cycle again on July, 29 but I started spotting kind of brown blood on July 20th, it has been off and on all week, 20th - 26th, but it is kind of a pink color now, I can wear a tampon for well over 24 hours and not have one in at night, I am not sure what this means and I need help, I read that it could be implantation bleding, so could I be pregnant?? I need help

I am still just spotting, I was supposed to start my cycle yesterday or today. I am calling my doctor tomorrow to see what I should do, I took a home pregnancy test but it said negative. But it still might be to early to tell if I am or not. Can implantation bleeding last this long (12 days)?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It is true that some medicines like antibiotics can effect the efficacy of birth control pills. This spotting can be due to implantation bleeding. Most home pregnancy tests that check urine beta-HCG are sensitive to 20-25 mIU/ml of HCG. The test can be positive anywhere from about 2-3 days prior to a missed menses to 4-5 days after, but usually it should be done 7-10 days past your missed period. There are a number of variables which will affect the accuracy of the pregnancy test, and these include: the days of a woman's menstrual cycle and ovulation can change each month, the exact day of implantation of the fertilized egg is not always known. It is not uncommon for women to have negative pregnancy tests when they are pregnant.

Hence it is better to get serum HCG levels done.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
