i am 17 and have had irregular periods ever since i began mensturating at 13. I have currently been bleeding for 6 weeks and have gone through stages where I experienced large blood clots. I am seeing a specialist in a few weeks but am really worried.

Um wow, I'm no specialist, but it sounds like you really need to see a doctor.  I know sometimes talking to your parents or care providers about this sort of thing is awful and awkward, but sometimes you just gotta.  Trust me, I once didn't poo for two weeks and thought I was gonna die.  I was too embarrassed to tell my mom until finally I couldn't take it any more and when I did she rushed me to the hospital where I had to get my stomach pumped and supposetories!  How awful is that?!  GO TO THE DOCTOR!
