You describe the exact location of your Bartholin gland; there is one on each side of the vaginal opening. The Bartholin gland duct can get blocked, leading to swelling and sometimes infection of the gland. You are right that not having sex for 9 months reduces the chance of STD as the cause. However, chlamydia and sometimes gonorrhea can linger that long, and they are common causes of Bartholin gland infections. Regardless of the cause, you need to see a provider for proper diagnosis and probably an antibiotic prescription. Visit your gynecologist or a family planning clinic, such as Planned Parenthood; or your local health department STD clinic.

... I just had a baby 5 months ago, and had 2 pap smears since then.. Once was at PP for my IUD insertion, and the other pap was at my doctors. They were both normal, and I have no STD's.
But I'll definately check up on that gland. Will it go away by itself or do I for sure need medication?
I think you should listen to HHH and see a dr. Just to find out the deal.
Hey Jenni
I have no idea but its best to get it checked out. I just wanted to say hey and see how your baby girl is doing? Hope your doing well too!
Jen
hey girl...how is everything besides this?
i wonder if you put a hot cloth on the area? maybe you do have an ingrown hair or a bartholins cyst "brewing" down there? see if that will help. do you see anything there?
hello,
congrats on the baby! I was thinking maybe its a irriation to the IUD you had inserted..I would check with a dr, to see whats up! Dont take no chances with things like that..Hope all is well with the baby!! Keep us posted girl.

don't listen to obgyns, STDs are rarely the cause of bartholin cysts, it's usually bacteria or simply put bad luck
