could it be cancer?

I got a call from my doctor today saying my pap come back a little abnormal and in the 14 they want me to come in and there going to look at my cervix with a microscope.  Cancer runs in my family a lot.  And I'm afraid it could be cancer.  I am wondering what my chances of it are? And are there any cures?

Abnormal paps dont just mean cancer.  I had an abnormal pap at 19. Im 29 and havent had one since. They will monitor you more frequently.  Dont worry yourself!

I had an abnormal pap that lasted 5 years. They had to keep track of it every 3 months. It wasnt until last year that it finally became normal. But i was very scared of being at a very high risk of cancer.  So im cancer free

Don't jump to anything drastic. Abnormal paps are, well, normal! It could be a number of things, most probably easily treatable. Try not to stress until they see you again

An abnormal pap smear could point to many things, not just cancer. The best thing you can do is not stress and just wait for your next appointment to talk to your doctor. Sometimes pap smears can be abnormal one week and normal the next.
