sleeping too much

I am a 27 year old woman, and for the past month, I have been sleeping in until 10am.  I am not working at the moment, and find it very hard to get up each day.  I go to bed at 9pm every night, and still find it hard to get up any earlier than 10am.  I've tried to set my alarm clock to get up earlier, but I end up turning the alarm switch off and going back to bed. Are there any vitamins that I can take to help me have more energy, or is there anything I can do to train myself to get up any earlier than 10am?

Thank you for posting your Question, I am 26 years old and I have been out of work for quite some time now, I have been in and out of work do to some Medications I used to take, and I have been sleeping really really late my sleeping patterns are terrible.  I sometimes fall asleep at 4am, and don't get up until 4pm.  Other days I don't sleep at all.  I just started to seek help for this.  Just want you to know your not alone.

you should maybe have your iron checked by your DR...having low iron can make you tired all the time...HTH

You may be getting too much sleep.  I once gave myself 3 months off in between jobs.  I was so excited about getting to sleep in those first two weeks.  The next thing you know, I was sleeping in late whether I wanted to or not. I had to force myself to just get 8 hours of sleep instead of 10.  It took me about a week to get back to a normal sleep schedule.  Have you tried things like putting your alarm clock across the room?  Do this and turn on the light when you get up to turn off the clock.  Even if you go back to bed, the room won't be as comfortable.  I agree with the other poster about getting exercise.  Start out small- take a ten minute walk every morning or something.  And make sure your diet is healthy and well balanced.

I don't know, years ago when I was depressed, the way I first realized it was it got harder and harder to get out of bed. I wasn't necessarily tired, either.

You mentioned not working. I also have noticed that when I don't have a particular place to be in the morning, I tend to get lazier and less focused as well. That may have something to do with it too :-)

I'm not depressed, at least I don't think I am.  I just don't know why I sleep so much.  I turn over to look at the clock, and I know I should get up, but it is a serious challenge day to day. But overall, I don't think I am depressed.

I agree, I had anemia while pregnant with my three kids, and it makes you sooo tired that getting out of bed is a huge chore!!

Good Luck

Try getting some exersize during the day. Don't do it right before you go to bed though.
