After my daughter was born 8 years ago, I went for my 6 wk follow up. My Gyn noticed some brown spots on my vulva which she sent away for a biopsy. She said the brown spots came back normal, however the pink skin surrounding it was slightly abnormal. She recommended that I come back every 6 months for observation. It's been 8 years and it has definitely spread, although some of it looks like it may have disappeared in areas. I haven't been to my Gyn in 1 1/2 years (have an appt. this Fri.) but I'm scared to death that it's some type of cancer now. She's only preformed 1 biopsy and she has seen that it has spread. It's not raised, itchy or bleeding. It's more a mottled look, some quite light in colour while other areas are dark brown. She described what I have as Lentigo Simplex. Do you think a biopsy should be done since it's been 8 years since my last one or do you think it's ok to just keep observing it with the naked eye? I keep reading how melanoma is a clinical simulator of melanosis and that any new lesions should be biopsied. I have been worried sick over this and now I got my period which isn't due for 2 more weeks. I'm hoping it's because of stress and not cancer. I can't eat or sleep I am so scared!!
