Question, seriously, Is it possible......

Hi, I have 2 questions and I know they may sound alittle silly, but I am serious. First, is it possible to ovulate later in your cycle, ex: My period is due 8/21. I have been having some mild cramping on 8/16 and yestaerday, nothing painful, no bleeding and not constant. I took a preg test yesterday and it was neg. so I can rule out implantation cramping. I thought I may be ovulating, is it possible to ovulate this late in my cycle and so close to starting my next??? Lastly, I know this sounds a little off the wall, but, has anyone ever heard of geritol increasing your chances of fertilization? I have a girlfriend and her and her husband have been trying to get preg for over a year. She was told by a lady in her church to use geritol and she got pregnant immediately. My mom says she has heard of this from back in her day. Have any of you ever heard of this?

I started taking the Geritol Tonic on Aug. 5th and I am almost done with my first bottle. How long do I need to take it? How many bottles of GT do I need to take before I take a test?

My hubby and I have been ttc for 1 year and 5 months now. Still no luck!!! My hubby told me about the Geritol pills and I didn't believe him. He agreed to take them with me, so we have been taking them for almost 2 months now, but there's still no sign of a bfp. I am beginning to think he was wrong. Does anyone know if the liquid is better than the pill? How long should it take for a bfp?

After trying for some time, my husband and I tried Geritol.  We figured why not?  It is vitamins and minerals, so worst case it will just make you healthier.  We both took it daily for three weeks.  It tastes HORRIBLE.  My husband began calling it a$$-i-tol towards the end.  However, after three weeks of taking it, we tried on one of my fertile days.  Yep, just one day, not every day during the ovulation cycle.  Three weeks later, a positive pregnancy test.  I then took a second one to confirm, and yes, positive.  I am now 6 wks. pregnant and swear by Geritol.  I am a science major, so I understand that there are no scientific studies to back its effectiveness.  However, look around the internet.  You will find a world of people saying "no, that doesn't make sense, so therefore it doesn't work".  But yet, you cannot seem to find an abundance of people who actually did try it and were unsuccessful.  The moral of the story - don't knock it, till you try it. ;)

I too kept hearing that Geritol could help increase chances of becoming pregnant and decided to give it a try after trying to conceive for about a year. I took one daily for a month and the next month, I was pregnant. So, I will let you be the judge! It is a regular vitamin and my mother is a nurse and actually recommended it. So try it, it cant hurt if you are really trying. Good luck! It can be purchased at your local drug store.

Hi,
I just wanted to drop by and tell you my story to see if it will help.
I started my last period on July 5th 2006, it was normal, had a full period. 28 days later I was supposed to get my period and it didn't come. I took over 2 1/2 weeks late 5 tests, all negative. I was concerned and call my doctor, he scheduled me for a blood test on wed the 16th of August. The next day the results came back negative. The only "symptom" that I had of pregnancy was a metallic taste in my mouth, which I just guessed it was from something weird since I had been negative 7 times.
Well this past wed the 23rd I went to the doctor. He examined me, looked again at my blood test from the previous week and said I wasn't pregnant. He ordered tests for my thyriod. I got dressed and was about to leave when he asked me if I had experienced anything funny the past few weeks. I told him about the metallic taste in my mouth, he decided to again run a urine pregnancy test, but said it would be negative since the HPT's and blood tests were practically foolproof... well... 2 minutes later he came back and it was POSITIVE.
Although we can't be sure how far along (I may have ovulated late) i'm due in april, I would say from experince if you think you are pregnant and are late... listen to yourself first and wait... The tests obviously aren't 100% and the blood tests aren't either.
Good LucK!

well. i heard of geritol helping fertility but it's only a myth. it does not help, but try not to stress out about being pregnant because a miscarriage may happen

NO!!!! There is no indication of what you are experiencing that a miscarriage is on the cards. Of course with any pregnancy this is a possibility but it's not something that should be really mentioned at this point - it's irrelevant at this stage - sorry to the poster who mentioned - not trying to be rude. Don't concern yourself with m/c at this point when you're not even sure you're pregnant for starters.

In answer to your first question though, yes it is possible to ovulate later in your cycle than you normally do. It can be different each month or as a one off depending on your hormones telling your ovaries to release an egg. So having said this it's possible that you're then also due later in expecting your period hence you may have tested too early with a hpt and it hasn't yet picked up hcg cause your levels are too low. Just assume that your next period is due on around 8/24 instead of 8/21 and test around then if you haven't already started your AF.

Can't help you with the second question you had as I've not heard of geritol at all before! Good luck and keep us posted!

You guys have been extremly helpful, I am so glad I have found you. The only think left for me to do is wait. I really thought that pregnancy was out of the question, since I took a hpt yesterday and it was neg. but, I have been reading about hpts and I could have tested 2 soon. I will wait and see if af comes and if not I will test again in a few days. Thanks for sharing your advice and experience and I will keep everyone updated!

I'm new... wanted to tell you it seems that you are trying to get pregnant.  When I got pregnant I wasn't trying to, so about three days and then all the way through when I should have had my period I would have cramps like I was ovulating.  I later found out because I helped my best friend through 4 invitro's that those cramps are after the egg has been fertilized and it is now implanting into the uterus (thus the sporatic cramping)...I don't want to get your hopes up but that is a symptom and your cycle is on the 21st.  You may even experience some drops of blood all of which is normal.

I ovulated a week late and am now 12 wks 3 days pregnant.  My pregnancy test did not show up positive until 3 days after my missed period.

I've never heard of geritol aiding in anything but I have heard that people use Robitussin.  I did a search using the words geritol pregnancy and there's quite a bit out there on it.  It looks like it increases cervical mucus.

Good luck to you

No, I have never heard of geritol doing that. I have though ovulated late. I was late last month. I took a pg. test and it said the same. I was very stressed and it threw my pd. off by 10 days. I always started around the 18th and since last month I am just now ovulating. I have always heard who u hand around your periods will come in cycle together. I don't know if that's true , but it's someting to thank about too.
