Can my nipple heal on it's own?

Recently I had noticed a small scab on my nipple and figured it was from someone accidentally biting and broke skin. So I've been waiting for it to go away. However it's been a week and it's swollen, still hurts to touch (especially right after a shower) and now today I realized two tiny blister looking bumps.. Not sure if I should wait for the trauma to heal.. but also scared of infection that requires meds.

Wow, Ouch!  So, nursing mom's use lanolin which comes in a purple tube and can be bought at any drug store.  Was my nipple life saver when I had babes that tended to cause issues like this.  But if you have blisters, ugh.  If they are filled with pus, double ugh.  Try not to pick at it or touch it as bacteria from hands can be transferred. But agree that if this continues and especially if it is painful or if it becomes hot to the touch, I agree with purple that  you'll have to make sure you aren't infected. For that, they may give you an antibiotic ointment which you could also try yourself now ---  something like Neosporin.  Anyway, let us know what happens.

Thank you so much! I'll try the antibiotic Neosporin I have. I'm trying to avoid the embarrassing trip to the doc. I'll update!
Remember that if it continues to hurt, swell with pus and especially if it gets hot to the touch, you have to go ahead and make the embarrassing trip to the doctor. You would then likely need antibiotics for an infection.  Let us know if it clears up soon!
PS:  /doctors do NOT care and see far FAR worse.  :)

It does sound like there might be an infection going on- I'd have a doctor take a look at it so the infection can be treated as needed.  Feel better soon!
