pregnant or not

I was on the pill for the longest time and my hubby and I decided to TTC.  I have been off the pill for almost one month.  Lately, I have experienced increased appetite, what seems like menstrual cramps (even though not due until mid June) and this may sound gross but just today I used the bathroom and found what appeared to be cervical mucus.  What does the loss of cervical mucus mean?  Never had this happen before.  Could I be pg?

You could be ovulating. A lot of women feel a sensation when their ovaries are releasing an egg (could be what you describe as cramping). Also your discharge can change around the time of your ovulation as well. You probably haven't noticed these symptoms of ovulation before because you have been on the pill.

First of all, please note that the pill is NOT 100% effective in birth control. I was on the pill for over six months and still got pregnant.  Also, it usually takes longer than one momth of going off your birth control (the pill, the shot, etc.) before you can get pregnant.  The mucus discharge, however, could be a good sign that your body is, in fact, getting ready to receive a pregnancy.  When I had this discharge, my Physician's Assistant told me, without waiting for me to ask (that's now noticeable it was) that the uterus produces a white mucus substance in preparation for pregnancy.  If pregnancy is not achieved, then you get your normal period.  But, if you are trying to get pregnant, this would be an indication that you are ovulating and you and your husband should try to conceive during this time period.  It works just the same as an ovulation detector, but is much cheaper.  Hope this helps, and good luck!!

Any woman who has a uterus, ovaries, and who is having intercourse can be pregnant.  The only way to find out is to take a pregnancy test.  The discharge of cervical mucus means nothing.
