Im pregnant but I never had a period.

Okay so I just found out that I am 4 weeks along but yet my last menstrual cycle was back on august 27th 2013 and ended September 1st. I have no idea how I got pregnant since I haven't had a period to ovulate. I have always had  irregular periods, I skip three months at a time but this would be my 3 time getting pregnant. Has anyone ever experienced getting pregnant without a period??? and if so was it a good pregnancy?? I had an ultrasound done yesterday and it was to early to see if there was in fact a baby. The sac was there and everything looked normal so far for only 4 weeks. Please someone help.

Thank you very much for your response. I had an ultrasound and they estimated me at 4 weeks they couldn't see a baby due to me not being far long, So just to make sure its a good pregnancy they are checking my hormone levels. I find out Monday if everything is good. Once again thank you very much.

Hi there.  That is the thing about being irregular.  You just never know when you are going to drop an egg!  And it seems like you dropped one a few weeks ago (four to six?) and had sex at that time.  Lucky you!!  (if you are okay with being pregnant).  If you hadn't had sex and fertilized the egg, you'd have had a period a couple of weeks ago.

I think this should have no bearing on this being a healthy pregnancy or not.  You obviously DID ovulate or you'd not have gotten pregnant.  it just snuck in there when you had no idea it is coming.  Period comes AFTER ovulation, not before.  Period is the next biological step after ovulation rather than the other way around.  If you ovulate, you will either be pregnant or have a period a predictable time period after.  But you can ovulate at any time after your period as that is the NEXT cycle.  Does that make sense?

so, this pregnancy is like any other with the same rate of something being wrong as a typical pregnancy AND the same rate of you holding a baby in your arms at the end of the pregnancy!!  wishing you all the best and what a wonderful surprise, right?!
