Is it safe to skip my period if I want to prevent pregnancy?

I am getting married and going on my honeymoon on the 13th of May, and I am supposed to start my period on the 14th. Obviously I don't want that to happen on our honeymoon so I was planning on skipping the placebo pills and just starting a new pack so that I just skip my period. Does that work? Is there a greater risk of getting pregnant if I do so? Pros/cons? HELP!

You should be able to do this without risking pregnancy.  Just go right to the active pills after finishing the current pack.  It might be best to run it past your doctor though if you have worries.  But, this should work fine to prevent a period on your honeymoon.  Happy nuptials and have a great honeymoon!  Going somewhere fun??
