Hi, I just posted my story as Parts 1 & 2. Your story sounds familiar to me... I had sudden yeast infection sx when I had an IUD 6 years ago. Even tho promptly removed, the itching escalated to excruciating pain & I became so ill I was bedridden for 2 years. I went from test to test, Dr to Dr, but nothing showed. At the time I was dating a meat cutter, and after reading about GBS, asked my Dr to screen for it. Nothing. I had 2 D&C's. the 1st was helpful. But the 2nd did nothing, nor did the hysterectomy. I've been in pain management for fibromyalgia since. And awful arthritis in my hips. I was 39, am now 46. Well... 18 mo ago the pain became even more intense, along with heart sx & serious illness. My pain Dr sent me to triage= ER to find out what it was. They found nothing. I saw an obgyn- I'd stopped going since I had a hysterectomy & had beat getting a dx like a dead horse. But I had recently had a UTI. They had to switch the antibiotic because I had a rare bacteria. So when this vag problem flared, I went to get it checked- and had quite the runaraound and wait... to find out it was GBS. Just like the UTI a few months prior. But by this time, it felt like my intestines had weakened & my body was filling with disease. I was hoping they would figure out where the break was & fix it, but they wouldn't. I got a round of oral antibiotics but it hardly helped & I was asking for a retest before I was even done with it. Had to wait... couldn't breathe well, & found that ER was No help. No positive culture= no antibiotcs and ER doesn't do vag cultures. Fortunately I got to a cooperative infectious Disease Dr in time to get continuous oral antibiotics. I'll be on them for at least a decade. They are to prevent Rheumatic Fever. But they won't cure it, and I can't prove I went septic- still am quite ill. Had a couple IV antibiotic treatments, but found them only slightly more helpful. Proper treatment for this, Rheumatic Fever, is Penicillin G injections. A lot of them. Modern medicine doesn't get involved with such risky business and also discourages IVA's. So I bought some from a pet feed store & injected myself. I have no doubt I would have died & had no other options. But I had to stop since I developed a sudden allergic reaction. 3 months later, I am finally sweating out the Herxheimer reaction caused by the massive die off of bacteria. It's difficult to get this to show in test. They have to do a culture & if it's not a good catch, it won't show. It has to populate a LOT to be considered an infection, since 30% of women have GBS. Modern medicine is in no hurry to help people with bacterial infections. Especially GBS, because people usually don't die from it until they are elderly. But I can tell you from experience, it most certainly is possible to die from this at younger ages, I almost did in my 40's. Hope this is helpful, good luck to you! Oh! Sorry, almost forgot to say... I don't get it much these days... but at the time 18 months ago, I was dating my ex bf & we were experimenting with front & back door sex. I thought he knew better than to go back to the front after being in back. But he didn't. And that is what started all this, along with predispositions. First UTI, then Vaginal. So idk for sure what my original bag infection was, but I suspect it was also GBS & the careless fun just set it off really bad.
