Long overdue period

I am almost 17 years old, and I've been getting my period since I was 10 years old. However, the last time I saw my period was in June of 2015; it's May of 2016, and I still haven't had it. Is this something I should be super concerned about? What steps should I take next? (By the way- I'm somewhat active-- I do marching band seasonally and competitive swimming year round, so I'm on my feet a lot, I guess you could say. Just wanted to throw that in there in case that has something to do with it).
Thanks for answers in advance!!
