Long period

I have PCOS and am used to irregular periods my I am currently on one that has lasted 6 weeks. I started the pill 2 weeks ago but am still bleeding. Should I keep taking the pill on the placebo week even though I am already bleeding?

I'm sorry to hear about this. I too have PCOS and my period seems to be very long, as well. Not as long as yours, but longer than I'm certainly used to. Before I have on Provera, I had a one-day period that was very light every 4 months. Now, they last about two weeks.

If I were you, I would stop taking your meds and talk to your doc about whats going on just to make sure it's normal. I know my doctor said that sometimes the periods can be longer at first because the blood is built up in the uterus and your body is now having very heavy periods to get everything out. When the hormones drop again the period should stop, and then they start and you have another heavy period. But 6 weeks is very long, even for PCOS.

Talk to your doc just to make sure everything's okay.

Best of luck!

Im not sure your situation, but I got on birth control one time and bleed for 2 mths but spotted for a bout a wk. I normally (at the time) rarely even have 1. I'd go 3,4,6,9 mths a yr. Its basted on MY Stress levelĀ”
