Well, I'm 16 and my gynocologist thinks I have PCOS because my male hormones are pretty high, but the weird thing is that my ovaries and uterus look fine (I got a sonogram) and don't have any cysts. Also my hormonal issues started almost exactly when I went vegetarian a year ago. He wants to put me on birth control and was going to do it yesterday, but I insisted that first I wanted to change my diet. I really don't want to go on birth control. He said that he'll give me a month to change my diet and try to get my hormone levels to normalize naturally, and if they don't I'll go on the pill. So- I am going on the South Beach Diet as of today, because I've heard it helps people with PCOS. Have you heard anything about the diet and/ or its effect on PCOS? Do you know of any other natural treatments for PCOS? Also have you ever heard of vegetarianism causing a hormonal imbalance such as a raise in male hormones? I really want to resolve this naturally, because I feel that the pill just masks the problem and is somewhat unnatural to be on for a long period of time. Thank you all so much!
