Can a man get an infection?

An old boyfriend recently told me that he got infections and had to have antibiotics 4 times after having sex with me between 1 and 2 years ago.  He doesn't remember the name but was told that it was not STD and I didn't need to be treated only to have better hygiene.  I never had any symptoms and don't know what to ask doctor to check for?  Is this possible?

Thank you,
JR

It sould be another infection.  I know I once had an infection that I caught from using a public hot tub--My husband  (boyfirend at time) also had to be treated so we would not keep passing it back and forth to each other.  Maybe if the boyfirend would have told you he got an infection--you could of been treated and then it would have been stopped being passed back and forth....My cousin also had to have this done when she developed an infection--and her husband is the only man she has ever been with--but she got treated he did not--so she kept getting relapses--once they both got antibiotics they were fine...maybe have you gyno run a few tests on you to make sure you are not still carrying an type of infection that could get passed on--it may not be an actual STD but that is still how it is transmitted from one partner to the next.

Thank you, I read about chlamydia but his doctor said it was not an STD.  He said he didn't tell me because he didn't want me to worry, he just always suggested a shower before sex.  And I'm sure he was embarrassed as I am, thank goodness for anonymity on the internet.  I think I may have figured it out.  Today we teach girls to wipe from front to back, but I grew up and still have the bad habit of back to front and never had any problems til now.  I'm thinking its bacteria from the colon?  Does that make sense?

Could it have been chlamydia? He could've had symptoms and you not. Google it. If it was chlamydia, it's got nothing to do with hygiene. Maybe he's the one that needs better hygiene. If he's telling you the truth that he had to have antibiotics 4 times after having sex with you, why would he keep coming back and reinfecting himself without mentioning it? Doesn't sound right. Why tell you after all this time? Or is he trying to lay the blame on you for other reasons?

Thank you, I read all the links above and I don't think it was yeast because it says that men ususally don't have symptoms.  He had a discharge from penis and was given pencillin but the doctor told him I didn't need to be treated only have better hygiene, which makes no sense to me?
