Not having a period indicates you are not ovulating. :( This is something to speak about to your doctor. You will want to find out why you are not ovulating regularly. However, it doesn't mean you never ovulate as it can all of a sudden happen. But you can't plan for it if you have no regular pattern. So, keep that in mind. I had hypothyroidism which is a slow thyroid and had periods every 3 to 4 months and then also had a natural production of too much estrogen. This threw my hormonal balance off. My system regulated, two kids later . . .
What you will want/need to do is have lab work done to check thyroid and hormone levels and your doctor should be able to guide from there. good luck
A period is part of your body ovulating and then cleaning out what parts were not 'used' to make a baby after ovulation occurs- if you don't have a period, it means you are not ovulating. Do you have a medical condition causing you not to have your period or has your period just not arrived in a while and you aren't sure why?
