Period and The Pill

I am 19, and have been taking the contraceptive pill microgynon for one cycle. I forgot to take the pills for 2 days in a row about 2 weeks ago but started again straight away when i remembered. Because of this I got my period and even though i have been taking the pills for more than 7 days my period is not going away and i have had it for more than 7 days now. Help, what's going on!

When I was 17 I was put on Diana 35 and then 3 months later I was put on Microgynon 30 and for the first month on microgynon I spotted everyday. Not a lot but enough. It stopped when I started the second month of pills.

I was told that it is completely normal. If this is your first time on the pill then I would say to give it another month and see how it goes.

I had some health problems with Microgynon 30 so I stopped taking it after 1,5 years. Just recently I was put on the pill again due to endometriosis (overly server cramping that lasted more then half the month), I am now on Yasmin (the lightest dosage). The first month I started bleeding a week early and it lasted 2 weeks. Then I started the new pack and it stopped. The second month went smoothly with almost no complaints (the first month is always evil to me).

If the problem continues then you might want to ask your doctor if you need a stronger dosage, or maybe even a lighter one.

And a little tip on how not to forget to take them is to set an alarm on your cell phone (or whatever you always have on you) for sometime during the day (mine is at 12:30pm, lunch time, it is loud and has the words "TAKE YOUR PILL" that pops up...haven't missed one yet).

Good luck!
