How likely is it that I am still pregnant?

I lost a baby 4 months ago.  Since then we have been trying to conceive, so I have been taking ovulation tests.  My periods have been pretty well on time.  My period was late and so I got excited.
I took two tests that were showing very faint pink lines.  So faint that I called the manufacturer to see if it was possibly the test malfunctioning.  She said I was probably pregnant.  I went to get a blood test and it came back positive.  I'm pregnant.
I had been barely bleeding brown. Almost unnoticable for two days (Sunday night and Monday).  A dull achey cramp, but nothing like my period.  I was due Sunday, so late sunday and off and on Monday  was brown.  Tuesday is when brown turned to pink.  Wed. I started bleeding red and dark red, but mucusy and Wed. night I was bleeding more like a moderate period. That ended quickly and by Thursday it slacked of considerably turning brown.  Today is Friday and I am finding brown again.  My periods are painful and about 4-5 days of heavy bleeding, so this was not typical.  The doctor said he thought it was likely that I was miscarrying, but it was too early to see anything from the Ultrasound. My hcg was 18 and that was low, but if I am as very early pregnant as they said then that doesn't seem to be that crazy.   My boobs are still sore. I still feel like my hormones are coursing through my veins.   I am wondering how possible is it that I am still pregnant.
I do have an appt next week to get my hormone levels red, but part of me is really wanting to know something sooner.  Is it too soon to hope?  Has this happened to other women?  The doc said that it was extremely rare to have a period while pregnant.

Thank you for responding to those posts.  I am just now responding because I figured out how to check these things...  I appreciate the time you took to answer my concerns in the best way you could.  It turns out that I did have a m/c during that period of time, but today  I am 21 weeks pregnant with either a boy or girl.  It was rough going through 3 m/c especially not knowing what was going on, but God is faithful!  I prayed for His will, way, and timing and he came through for me.  I hope this finds you as blessed.

Well I hope your not having a m/c! I hope everything turns out good for you. I am actually having a m/c right now. I tested positive on the 7th. Hcg was only 27. Doctor said not to worry because I was so early! Period wasn't due until the 13th. On 9-10 hcg was only 29. I started to bleed on the day my period was due. I guess I had a chemical pregnancy. I have heard that many women bleed during the first trimester and eveything turns out perfect. I wish you luck! Let us know.
