Get a different GP who will run tests to find out why you didn't have but one period for the past two years. You need to find out the cause, not just try to induce periods. You really should have gone to the doctor as soon as you missed period number two if not period number one because that was your first sign something was off.
Provera is a shot that makes you not have a period for the duration of it (I think you get a shot every three months.). If you get on the pill, you'll not be ovulating either though it may help get your body into the swing of things if it's as simple as a hormonal issue that put off your period for so long. Yes, it's three weeks taking it then one week off. That one week is indicated by a row of different color pills that you don't need to take unless you'll forget when to start the next pack if you don't.
I would strongly suggest seeing a different GP as this one is not taking your best interest to heart. You should probably also see a gynecologist instead as you are trying to get pregnant. The gynecologist's focus of study was the female reproductive system.
Hi there,
I strongly agree with thatquietgirl's comments. I would definitely suggest
that you find a different GP. You could ask your girlfriends what GP
they go to. Good luck. Eve :)
Iv booked an appointment for thursday the reason I hate speaking to my gp is I feel she treats me different like I'm not all with it as iv had servere depression and anxiety growing up due 2 a very bad past, but I feel very ready to try move on and make a family of my own I'm jus so embaressed to say it as I don't no the reaction and I know she will say its not wise iv been told by a handful of people now they changed gp as she wasn't that good and took no interest, also I forgot to mention I did have test run on my thyroid as I seen a different doctor about not getting my period so she ran blood tests and there was a thyroid problem iv been referd back to my GP who never medicated me for this iv red up on thyroid conditions and it does say can cause infertility I'm so worried I'm thinking of buying provera and clomid online please help x
Be your own advocate! Get a different GP. If this one is treating you in a way that makes you uncomfortable for one reason or another, you have that right. You have to stand up for yourself with doctors and for your health.
This one sounds like she doesn't care about you at all and needs to have a formal complaint made against her because if you had a test and it revealed a thyroid problem, you were referred back to her, went in to see her, told her about the results, and she never did anything about it, then that is malpractice. She doesn't sound like a good doctor.
Get yourself a new one! Cancel the appointment with her for Thursday and find a new person because she is going to give you more of the same old if you've already told the problem.
It is not my understanding that thyroid problems cause permanent infertility. My cousin could not get pregnant and went to the doctor to find out why. She found out she had a thyroid issue. It took a year or two to get her thyroid medication to the right level and now she has three beautiful children.
Aww u have made my day!!! I hope so much this isn't the end of my hopes for my own family 1day! Xx
