I have a quick question.  I am experiencing some symptoms of BV and I was curious if your gynecologist would find that in an annual physical exam or is it something they have to know to look for???  Thanks!

Ladies please try this wonderful vaginal probiotic called FloraFemme. It's a prescription strength, very effective suppository which balances your vaginal pH and cures BV, Yeast infections, and treats vaginal odor. The results I had were nothing short of miraculous, especially since I had tried everything on the market. It's a highly concentrated blend of vaginal probiotics, and is 100% natural. You can google it and buy it online or through Amazon. If you get repeat infections, please give this awesome stuff a try! Good luck ladies!

I worked for 5 years with an OB-gyn practice (4 doctors) and despite what was just written the doctor would notice this and yeast infections during the pelvic exam without even being told symptoms by the patient. They would then question the patient and would test what they saw and offer trmt options. Many women/girls are shy on that table and not mention problems and most doctors are well in tuned as to what looks and smells normal.
If your doctor did not mention anything and you are still symptomatic I would def mention it to them.

Thanks for the responses.  I know a pap does not screen it, but I thought when the doctor was "down there" they would be able to point it out...

Not necessarily; they wouldn't test for BV if they weren't looking for it. And the only thing I can think of that would trigger them to look for it is if you talked about your symptoms, or they happened to catch a whiff of a fishy smelling discharge. I most definitely wouldn't rely on them just noticing.

Actually, s/he may or may not notice, and a pap smear does not screen for BV. I think you should specifically tell him/her about your symptoms, so you can be thoroughly checked and tested.

Thanks...I have a discharge, but not a "fishy" odor.  Could you have BV without the odor?

Yes. Also, some women have BV without any obvious symptoms.

Really, you need to get checked if you're concerned. See your doctor.

They would be able to recognize it during a vaginal exam.
