What can be found from a gyno exam????

I recently have been experiencing a lot of pain, itchiness, swelling, and the weirdest discharge. I am abroad so I went to the ER where they diagnosed me with a UTI after testing my urine but didn't physically examine me and treated me with antibiotics. My symptoms worsened so I went to the Gyno a couple days later where he examined me and said that it was a yeast infection and gave me vaginal suppositories, vaginal cream, and pills for four days. I was told that I would get an email in a week to confirm my diagnosis once they tested the sample they took from me. I just got a call from them just two days later saying that the doctor would like to see me in person after receiving the results back. I asked why since they just said they could email me the results to confirm but they insisted that the doctor needed to see me as soon as possible. I am terrified at this point, could anyone tell me what this could possibly be?

Thank you for your response! Basically there was a growth of the bacteria that caused the UTI found from my vaginal swab so I was prescribed more suppositories for a week to clear that out. This was crazy for my first gyno experience I had no idea how intertwined it all could be! Thanks again for your response!!!

From what you describe, that does sound like the symptoms of a simple yeast infection that you acquired after taking the antibiotics.  They just swabbed you when you saw the ob/gyn?  No other exam?  There really isn't anything dangerous in a vaginal swab that can be diagnosed.  I honestly wouldn't be worried.  And if they get you in there to tell you it's definitely yeast, I'd be annoyed!  They possibly want to see you because you aren't a regular patient of theirs. I would not over worry about this, really.  Let me know what they say as I am now curious.
