abnormal vaginal bleeding

hello, i am a 33 yr old woman with a 3 yr old son. About 3 months ago I experienced mid cycle bleeding that lasted for 2.5 weeks. It was light with no cramping. MY Dr did a pap, exam and internal ultrasound and all came back normal. The bleeding stopped and just came back this month (mid cycle again). i am concerned there is something going on and not sure what could cause this. MY Dr said perhaps it could be stress induced as I have been under a lot of stress. My question is if I had a serious issue, would the internal ultrasound have detected it?
Thanks!

thank you! Both times times I have had irregular bleeding I was under a great deal of emotional stress so my dr mentioned this as a possible cause. I just really had no idea stress could affect me this way. I will wait and see what happens during the remainder of my cycle. I appreciate the comment!

It could be that the stress is causing a hormonal change which is causing your cycle to be off. Usually the ultrasound will pick up serious conditions however endometriosis cannot be seen on an ultrasound, you
Can see organs that are not in the right position due to
Endometrial adhesions due to endo. I'd wait and see if the cycle regulates if not you may need to get on the pill to regulate your cycle again.

thanks so much!  I will ask my Dr about testing for p.o.s. or pituitary gland disease . would the internal ultrasound I had done have detected polyps, fibroids or cervical dysplasia?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This brown spotting can be due to left over blood of the periods. Other than that stress due to viral infection can also cause such intermenstrual spotting. Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid and  cervical dysplasia. Consult your doctor if the symptoms persist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
