Scared about lab results, not getting any answers!

Hi there.  Recently during a routine female exam, the nurse found and removed a pollyp from my cervix.  I just got the results back and don't exactly understand them and I want to make sure nothing is seriously wrong as I was never called and told what the results were.  They read as follows:  "Polypoid segment of chronically inflamed endocervical tissue showing stromal fibrosis and cystically dilated glands.  No dysplasia seen.  Can you help me with this?  I appreciate the help and look forward to hearing back from you! .

It's not cancer or even precancer.  It's more like scarring from inflammation.  Sometimes this inflammation is found with disease like cancer, but it can also be found without cancer.  So just get your checkups as directed.  It all seems okay for now.

Hi Markiesgirl,

My suggestion is to make an appointment with the doctor who gave you
this routine female exam so you can ask any questions you want to
about the results of the exam. The lab results are always so hard to
understand. I've had the odd ultrasound over the years and I find the
lab statements so difficult to understand. That's why I make an appointment
with my family doctor and ask her to explain it to me and so that I can
ask the questions I want to ask. Good luck to you. Eve
