I believe that some women do still have irregular periods a few months after taking the pill. And yes, you would probably have symptom's of increased urination, breast sensitivity, and weight gain with pregnancy. However, it is possible to have no symptoms at all, it's just not terribly common.

During a menstrual cycle the old lining of the uterus is shredded out so that a newer, healthier environment for a baby can be grown. Considering that you have taken a substance that ,in-a-way, can trigger this kind of reaction it's still possible that it's old blood from shedding the wall. Also consider that if you have been worried about pregnancy, stress hormone cortisol can compete with progesterone receptors and delay a period.

In all likelihood, brown blood after taking the morning after pill is an irregular menstrual cycle. And all though it is possible to get false negatives with EPT's, it is not the norm. At the same time, it would be wise to ask a your doctor, even if it's only over a phone, if he/she thinks that your bleeding is unusual (for your health as well as an unborn child's).

The morning after pill is effectively super-birth control. It works by first trying to block the union of sperm to egg, and if that doesn't work it will try to prevent implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine wall. Occasionally, this can cause uncomfortable contractions that may or may not result in a bit of uterine wall shedding. the "brown blood" you saw could have been tissue with old blood. You can also expect the possibility of an irregular menstrual cycle following taking the pill.

Of course, If you "feel pregnant" it would be prudent to go to a doctor, as their tests will pretty much be conclusive.

By the way, EPT's check fro hCG which is first produced by the implanted egg, not you. In early pregnancy  you can expect the amount of CG to double every couple of days, so try taking tests a few days apart if you are still nervous.
Hope this helps
