can taking and Emergency contraception change your period pain routine?

Hi,

About a month ago and a week ago, I had a scare and took an EC. He didn't ***, nor did he penertrate for that matter, but I was still scared and took an EC. If nothing is there for the EC to get rid of, can it affect my body in other ways?

I got my period a week later, but the pains had changed. I usually get continuing pains that leave me dazed for a day and a half sometimes. Now its just stabbing pains every now and then.

I am expecting my period any day now and the stabbing pains have started again.

I did read on the packet that taking the EC will change when your period comes, etc.. but nothing about this.

I am just kinda worried about this.

Also, there is no way I can be pregnant if my period came a week after my scare? My period was heavy like normal, not spotting or anything.

Just wondering... as i am pretty ignorant on this subjects..

Thank you,

Christel

You may still have some effects on your cycle.  Stress will also do that, so try to relax.

Yes!  Common side effects of the morning after pill include breast tenderness, fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, and dizziness; these effects usually only last for a couple of days after taking the pill though.  The "next" period may also be delayed up to a week or come up to a week early.

Yes.... some woman do have periods when pregnant.  However,  the emergency contraceptive is 98-99% effective and your risk for becoming pregnant, considering the nature of your encounter, was VERY, VERY, minimal to begin with.  Since you had a normal period, since the incident, it is more likely you will win the lottery than find out you are pregnant!  Taking a pregnancy test (only a few dollars) would likely help ease your mind.

Also, MANY factors such as stress, weight loss, too much exercise, illness etc. etc. can effect your period (when it starts, nature of the cramps, duration or bleeding, amount of bleeding).

thank you so much..

you've put my mind at ease over these issues..

I think it would have to be a miracle for me to be pregant when I think about it. We didn't actually have sex, as in penetration. and he told me he didn't pre-*** to his knowledge.

my period was very heavy that week after I took the EC.

Could the EC still be having effect on my next period? the one that should be coming anytime? or would the affects be gone by now?

cheers,

christel
