contractions

Hi.  I am 24 weeks pregnant.  I have been having braxton hicks contractions for a while now, they have always been sparatic.  Yesterday I had a ton of them, 6 within 1 hr, then they slowed down.  Today I have been having 1-2 an hour.  I haven't had any other symptoms and the baby has been just as active as ever.  I was wondering if anyone thinks I should call the dr. or be concerned or if this was normal.  Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I called my ob this am and she said if I have more than 6 in an hour to go to the hospital.  Other than that braxton hicks are normal.  Thanks again.

I really understand how you feel, im 24 wees and ive been having them too and they have really scared me at times.  I'll get them on and off one day and then not at all the next.

I have been drinking lots of water though and i think if you are bent or hunched over doing somthing it doesnt help.  I've just tried to lie down when i get them and stretch out.  Like the other post says as long as your not bleeding and you can feel the baby kicking then it sounds normal (even though i know it doesnt feel it :)

I started labor at 24 weeks and was on bedrest to the end of my pregnancy. Everyone told me before 24 weeks it was braxton hicks and not to worry but they were wrong. I dont want to worry you but only you know your body and its better to be safe than sorry for sure. I have 2 kids and both times this happened and they were both born at 35 weeks.

i think youre fine. its ok. only when your contractions are about 5-10 min apart and last a longer time.

Braxton Hicks are totally normal, and if your doing a lot of activity, may worsen.  Be sure that you are drinking plenty of water.  Braxton Hicks will not throw you in to labor by any means.  They usually worsen with each pregnancy.  I had soooo many of them with my 2nd, and if I hadn't known better, I would have gone to the ER on several occasions.

IF your concerned about these, call your ob/gyn on Monday, and discuss it with the nurse or you can wait until your next monthly appointment.  As long as you are doing your 'kick counts', are staying HYDRATED, and are not spotting....your fine.  This is a normal part of pregnancy.
