intense abdomonal pain

For the past 2 months I have been getting intense pain in my right abdomen. I went to the doctors last week, and he set me up for an ultra-sound this morning. The ultra-sound was incredibly painful because of the constant pressure right at the area. The technician originally doing the ultra sound must have seen something, so she left and came back with another technician. Both of them continued to look at the screen perplexed, and then left and came back with a third! technician. All I know is what I overheard from their 3 way conversation in front of me. It's definately not a hernia, they ruled that out right away. Everything looks fairly normal from what I gather, but they were perplexed as to why I was in as much pain as I was in, especially when it was right over my appendix - which is apparently normal size, and I don't have a fever. I don't think they found anything near my ovary either, as they pointed at it, and just skimmed over, and went back to the area around my appendix. They also checked my intestines and whatnot... everything appears normal. After about half an hour, they sent me on my way, saying my doctor will contact me with my results. Now, I really don't think my doctor will contact me, as he never has before when he should have..I'm not pregnant, I'm on my period now and it the pain is in no way related to my cycle... I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea what could be causing this intense pain? Also, what in the world should I do?

I am wondering, do you ever get any swellings anywhere on your body that you can't explain.  Like a swollen finger or an angiodema knot on the skin?

I have the same pain  and some times when I want to to urinate it comes on. I did a ct scan and it showed that I had a cyst on my ovaries . I still feel pains there sometomes but not as severe as before. Maybe it is because it removed the cyst last summer. but my doctor did the same with me and my x-ray results and I had to go in and see her. I found a doctor who really cared.

Yeah, some doctors are strict about giving results over the phone, they want their consultation fee!

pardon my language, my doctor is a dumbass. :) They wont give me my results over the phone for some dumb reason, and they haven't called, and they keep saying "if anything is abnormal, you will get a call" and practically hanging up on me. I'm going off to college in about 3 weeks, so I'll just wait until then and randomly go into the ER when I have one of my cramping episodes. I live in a small town, but the college i'm going to is in a big city... might be better to go see a doctor there lol.. thanks for your responses tho :)

Ring your doctor and request your results. It is your body and your results which you have a right to know. Then I'd get a new doctor who could do his job better!

I sure don't know sweetie.  I'm sorry.  Did they say when the doc was supposed to get results.  It could be a number of things.  Once I had an ovarian cyst that was large and hurt, but you said they didn't pay much attention to the ovary.  I'm sorry I can't tell you more than that.  Maybe you should see another doc?
