itching in the vaginal area

am an 18 years old girl. I've been suffering from some vaginal infection for last 4-5 years. n with the passage of time it has increased. it becomes more intense during the night, leaving the rashes on itching and sometimes so painful wounds that i even find it hard to walk next morning. in addition to it, there is an abnormal white discharge from the vagina, which at times is very smelly n adds to the irritation in the vagina. i did consult the doctor about the same. she recommended some medicines, but they caused side-effects and hence i couldn't continue with them.
what should I do about the same? am in a great pain:(

Try a different doc, or different med. Usually a few weeks of Apple cider vinager tablets work to clean your system. But U need to make sure its not something more serious first!
It kills bacteria nad viral infections. GNC sells it.

Since you were seen by a physician, and the medication she gave you caused side effects, call the office and let them know.  Most doctors will call in another prescription for you without another visit. Also If the medication is expensive, ask your doctor if she has any samples for you to try.  Good Luck.
