need help

I had a vaginal hysterectomy 9 days ago, they took out my uterus and cervix. From the minute i came out of the surgery i throwed up for almost 17 hours, wich the doctors didnt seem to be worried about,i threw up bile and they said it sounded like i had acid reflux.Well now im home but my question is now i have always had a bowel movement everyday or every other day but i have been having bad pains going like into my rectum area that hurts so bad that it takes my breath it only last for about 30 seconds maybe 40 well i realized that i was constipated and i do not ever in my life remember ever being constipated.I went to use the restroom and try to have a b.m and it was painful to my lower abdomen more so to my lower right part,as well as painful to my rectum, however i did make a small b.m but when i wiped there was blood on the toilet tissue i didnt see any blood in the toilet and im just having a really light bleeding from my vagina mixed with a brown discharge. So i took some milk of magnesia and had a big (round)..(sorry) b.m but once again it was painful in both areas and there was blood again it looks like speaks of blood on the toilet tissue.Like i said i dont see blood in the toilet. And i feel just a little gas moving on my stomache but i cant seem to even pass gas.I might pass gas one time a day and its a small amount. The doctor is booked until November. What could be causing this? Have also been having heart burn since this surgery. My appetite is great tho..

Hello I am new to this site. I know your post is very old , but if you get onhere anymore I would like to know the conclusion to your pain in your anus and right side. I had a hysterectomy In january 09 and they somehow damaged my syatic nerve and it caused me the same pain you were discibing and I can not go to the bathroom very well at all. And I went home on stool softners. Please respond... thank you

If you were really constipated then the blood is probably from an anal fissure from having the hard b.m.  These are little tears in the anus and they aren't a big deal.  They will heal but in the meantime you should definitely take stool softners!!  They will help!  They won't bring on a bunch of pain as if you were taking a laxative so don't be afraid to take them.

Light bleeding and brown blood from your vaginal area doesn't sound alarming, given your surgery, but if it becomes enough to soak a pad then you definitely need to call the doc.

Hello there.
I had my tonsils out earlier this year and was put on some strong codine as pain relief. However, 2 weeks later and I hadn't had a bowel movement. After 2 weeks the pain one day was unbelievable and I was on and off the toilet trying to poo all day!! In the end we rang NHS direct and they recommended that I went up to the local A and E as the pain was so bad.
In the end I had to have an enema in casualty which immediately after I had the bowel movement I felt fanastic!! (even tho it was 3am and I had had one of the worst days of my life!!) Not wanting to go into too much detail but the movement was bigger than I could even had imagined and was covered in blood although I was told this was to be expected and nothing to bother about. It was uncomfortable to sit and walk for the next 24 - 48 hours afterwards but then I was fine!
Moral of my story is don't live on codine for 2 weeks!!
I wonder if your consitaption is a result of pain killers after your operation as they have a big consitpation side effect??Hope this helps - i feel for you cos Ive been there and its awful (not to mension embarassing at A and E!!) x

you should try to take stool softners. I found they worked for me. You should have the blood thing looked at!! I dont think that can be good.

take care
