unexplained weight gain and bad acne

Hi ya'll,

I am a 26 year old female who a year ago started getting horrible facial acne but only on the cheeks and in the past year has experienced a unexplained 10 pound weight gain with no changes to her diet. I do work out more then I used to but the weight gain is all in the stomach and uneffected with exercise or diet.
A year later doctors tell me " I'm 26 my metabolism has slowed down. " and that was my PCP, gynecologist, and a gastro doctor.
My dermatologist is now pushing accutance which I refuse because 5 different creams and Aldactone did not work and the birth control pills caused an upset stomch.
I am frustrated and uncertain what doctor to see.
I am luckily not heavy to start with - age 26, 5'8'' and 142 pounds but this weight gain and acne I want explained.

Have you found any causes? I am a 23 year old female, gained 30 lbs in 3 weeks after starting Allegra for allergies. I stopped the medication and have not seen a change in weight after increased exercise or restricted diet. I can see no other reason for the weight gain. I have been thin all my life, I am 5 foot 5 inches and have weighed between 115 to 120 for the past 5 years. I am seeing the doc Monday and don't want to be told to diet and exercise. This is beyond that. Any suggestions, similar experiences, solutions?

Hi,
thanks for query.

I think you should consider stpping birth control pills. These pills are known to flare up acne and leads to stomach problems. Go ahead with your dermatitis’s advice. Avoid oily food, wash your face frequently. Acne is a difficult problem to get treated because of its multifactorial  reasons. Please also get you thyroid status checked.

Wishing you good health
