Dentists say so.  If it is just for a tooth cleaning, that is a really good thing to do because when a lady is preggers her gums are more at risk than usual.  But I was conservative recently; went in for a teeth cleaning but wouldn't let them fill a small cavity they found, told them that would have to wait until the baby was born.  They gave me some mouthwash to keep the bacteria down and let me go.  If it had been a BIG cavity, I think I would have let them do it, because bacteria can enter your system through the teeth.  Ask your ob-gyn to be sure.

Yes, it is okay for a simple cleaning.

Avoid x-rays if at all possible.  This is why they ask "are you pregnant?" when they want to take x-rays.

Boy, that's a tough one.  I'd call the OB absolutely before you went in.  I'm sure it'd be fine, and worse not to take care of the teeth, but better safe than sorry.

they put a lead sheild over you!...

I was told i couldnt have anything done til they could see from the xray what needed to be done and re-assured me  that other pregnant women have had it done

Well for example.. women in car crashes(god forbid) but xrays are taken, treatments, medications done while pregnant..IT has to be done  it has to be done

Anyways my guy is 19 months old and fine!

I was once told by a few dentists in Halifax that it is encouraged to keep up on your dental work during your pregnancy. However xrays would not be a smart idea during your pregnancy. Cleanings however are a great thing.
