Has anyone had an out-of-body-experience?

...or what is called Astral Projection?
The first time this happened to me (1980) I was convinced I was dying. So it makes me think there's something like this might well definitely happen at death.
It happened to me many times since. But not so much recently. And I haven't a hope of controlling it to happen by will. It either happens naturally, or not at all. Which is a bit of a pain because I feel it's a thing that if you practise at it, it becomes less scary. As it is, whenever I have gone out of body I have always felt a little scared. So haven't been able to get creative with it!

Animals are a lot more tuned-in to subtle things. I think it's because we have mostly forgotten how to do those things, not because we can't. We have conditioned ourselves not to be sensitive to subtle things anymore. But I believe our abilities are still there, sometimes hidden....

that was interesting, no its never happened to me ,but I think you are right about dogs, twice here I have heard the dogs howling ,barking a lot then within an hour we have had an earthquake, they must sense something, this cat freaked out once well not really freaked out but sat boilt upright looking around in a sort of fear, then the dogs started barking, and trust me theres a ton of dogs here ..then the house shook with the earthquake ....

Wow, brice! That was lucky! Choking is so scary It could happen so suddenly to anyone anytime. There was the story of a man here in England who died while eating a boiled sweet. He was in the car with his wife driving, and he laughed at something she said...next minute Wham! Dropped dead!

Well, it's complicated, the out of body thing. I'd wake up in the night and couldn't move, there'd be weird whistling loud humming noises and strong vibration all through my body, then slowly I'd feel my legs lifting up like when you float in water. And then my arms, then if I made the effort I could just sit up, then get up. But when I did, the room was all blue-coloured. I could walk about in the room ok, and things were in the usual place, I could see the dog asleep, etc....then I'd think "I can walk through the door without opening it" That did work. I could actually do that. But walking downstairs was impossible for some reason. Legs didn't seem to work the same as in normal life. I had to come downstairs by gliding down, willing myself forward, and not moving my legs.
As soon as I'd had just these few things happen, it was like I lost grip of everything, and kind of blacked out most times. I could never hold on to it for very long at a time.

Sometimes I'd still be conscious when I was coming back into my body, and then it felt like I'd been thrown back into the bed from a height of about 3 feet. A bit of a shock. And I also learned that if I got up very quickly afterwards I felt nauseous and dizzy. I had to lie still for a while and focus on my body first.

Once I went to bed and the dog (my other dog, Toby) was asleep in my room. During the night I had an out of body experience. And I saw no dog in my room. I went downstairs (out-of-body) and saw him lying in a certain position on the sofa. By the way he looked up when he saw me! Then lay back and went back to sleep again. Which showed me dogs can see paranormal things.
Anyway I went straight back into my physical body, and even though I knew it would make me really nauseous, I got up straight away, and rushed downstairs to check if what I'd seen was true. Well it was. He was still in the same position on the sofa. So that proved to me we can see some true things when we are out of body.

But sometimes I'd get kind of 'stuck' at my neck, and couldn't get out. Sometimes I'd feel scared or very lonely out there. So not be able to get out next time.

I haven't had an out of body experience for a couple of years now for some reason.

I had a bit of an out of body experience years ago.  I had gone on a quick trip to a National Park with a couple of buddies and one of my buddies parents.  We stopped to have a burger at a little burger joint.  As I was eating the burger, I inhaled a bite of burger and it lodged in my wind pipe.

I didnt panic.  I stood up when I could see that the room was closing in on me.  I grabbed my throat, (international sign for choking) and passed out. Before I passed out a lot of my past flashed before my eyes.  I then passed out.  Sometime in the seconds before I hit the floor which unlodged the chunk of burger, it looked as if I was on the ceiling looking down upon my body.
