Can't resist - Had my tubes tied, could I be pregnant?

I am 47, had my tubes tied 17 years ago and have not used birth control since.  My husband and I don't have sex very often (his fault) but my belly is getting a bit bigger and I wondered if I could be pregnant.  He would be so happy but I'm sure he'd wonder if he's the Dad since we don't have sex very often.  Could I be pregnant?

I'm quite sure there are posts somewhere on MH about male pregnancies.

The growing number of seahorses using Medhelp would be very interested in a male pregnancy forum.

Male Pregnancy.  If ever there was a need for a support group, that's the issue to look at.

Fallopian tubes, uterus, who needs em!  We can still get pregnant if we just don't give up!!!  Dr's don't know everything you know, and anything can happen!   That egg can just skip right over where those fallopian tubes used to be and if there is no uterus to implant in, well there's always your stomach.   Just keep trying!!!  And yep Tator, I have heard those hysterectomy reversals are really easy these days.  Heck, if you can take it out,  you can put it back in.  I say go for it!  Good luck.

so,  you sound like you're being sarcastic,  so,  are you saying you still need a uterus to get pregnant-  because I was thinking of having a hysterectomy, and just figured if I ever changed my mind I could just have a reversal-  your forum might be useful to me-  then I can see if this worked for others!?!

OMG!  Pregnancy after hysterectomy-  too funny!

Someone started a group on pregnancy after tubal ligation...

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Pregnancy-After-Tubal-Ligation-Surgery/show/599

It doesn't mention the need to have reversal or IVF....sigh.....

I still want to know how you can see the hcg?  does it change colors or something...  that way I can be sure that I don't get pregnant too!  I mean,  DH and I NEVER have sex....  but weird things happen-

Of course you can! One sure way of knowing is to pee in the toilet. This will cause the urine to separate allowing the hCG to fall to the bottom. You'll have your answer in a few seconds! No having to run out and spend lots of money on HPT's.

Of course you could be.  I know someone who knows someone who read that under the right circumstances the egg can actually jump right into the uterus!!  In fact, it's not uncommon at all, it actually happens a lot!  And it's actually better if you don't have sex very often.  That way the sperm is stronger as they have been stored up for so long.   I would say all conditions were perfect and congratulations are in order!!!  Yay!  Now, go take a test to make sure, but even if it's negative I bet you are still pregnant!  Just keep taking them until one turns up positive and don't believe any of the negative people!!
