have i got benign intracranial hypertension

hi im 38 yrs of age and i have suffered with severe migraines for years and take imigran injections as and when i need them .but over the last few months ive had a very different continuous headache .my other symptoms are as follows ,tingling and numbness of my face (mainly down the center of my face) this comes and goes and varies in intensity but i have it every day,i can hear my heart beat in my ears , dizzyness , a feeling of bubbles going up the back of my head,i have trouble concentrating and my coordination is not as good as it was (i cant do fiddly things very well),sometimes i slurr my words or mumble ,i cant cope with daily tasks such as shopping and housework as i feel very disorientated , my blood pressure is around 130/98 when my normal blood pressure is 120/65 on average ,im also very drained and short tempered .

in august of this year i was admitted to hospital because my blood pressure was high and my mouth had drooped down oneside and i had partial paralyses of my face . i was sent home to await a ct scan . ct scan showed excessive fluid on my brain .the drs kept checking my eyes and said they where ok . i then had a lumbar puncture done and the pressure was 31.5, i had some fluid drained off and was diagnosed with bih. i was sent home with acetazolamide tablets and told i would be referred to neurology.
next day i was admitted with a very bad post lumbar puncture headache and was violently sick for 5 days . they then done a blood patch and was sent home .

ive since seen my neurologist this week and he told me that this is because of my migraines and i asked if the migraines could make my csf pressure high , he said no and said the reading must of been high because i was nervous !!!!!!!!!! he said behind my eyes is fine and my pressure must be fine now BUT MY EYES HAVE BEEN FINE ALL ALONG.(even when the pressure was high)

im now totally confused , unable to function as i would normally . i still have my original symptoms and when my head hurts really bad and my face tingles strongly ,my mouth droops down slightly.

has anyone any advise or help please x

I am on this site as my son, 21 years old has suffered from a rare type of migraine which no-one else seems to get and I am looking for answers from anyone with any idea of solutions to his problem, preferably someone from the medical world. We have exhausted all NHS avenues and they have come up with no solutions, My son has had a migraine once a week since he was 12. His migraines are not random like other people - he only has a migraine first thing in the morning on wakening. He goes to bed at night all fine and when he tries to wake in the morning he has no vision and a thumping headache. His vision comes back at around 11am and his headache lessens as the day goes on but is usually there until late evening. He is a very sporty person and tries not to let his migraines affect his life. He has a good job but his sickness levels are becoming a concern. He had had this type of headach for nearly 12 years and we are lost about where to go next. He has had ct scans, homeopathic remedies and various migraine tablets over the years. Anyone help.

Hi melb71. I just read your post and Im sorry you are going thru so much. I have IIH and papillodema( swelling of the optic nerves). If there is any thing i can help with just drop me a line and I will do my best. Remember, you are not on your own anymore. we are all here to help and support.
By the way , saying your opening pressure reading was high because you were nervous is nonsense! I have never heard such c**p before. I think you need a new neuro..
Please get in touch with any questions you may have or just to chat. Been there and all that. Cath278.
