Welcome suzy1328. I would like to know also. I have never heard of such.
MJlthewriter, Your citrus tree needs a mate and full sun. Citrus trees must polynate. Hubby and I plan on going south of New Orleans to get some fresh oranges in December.
There are citrus farms out there. My neighbor has a couple of tangerine trees. They do have thorns about 1-2 inches in length.
Thank you so much for responding to my post. I didn't realize that so many trees had thorns! This definately was NOT a fruit tree and I don't remember what the leaves looked like. They cut the tree down to put in a phone pole.....the tree was across the street from me. I was just curious because I had never seen thorns like that before!!
Thanks again!
Suzanne
There are quite a few trees with thorns. What kind of leaves does it have? compound, lobed, plain?
Compound leaves are many leaves coming from a single stem, like walnut and ash. Lobed are like maple trees. Various citrus trees have throns too. I found that out by planting a seed and growing a mini tree. It's doing poorly as a houseplant... I think mine is a tangerine, but I'm not 100% sure.
About your tree, what kinds of seeds does it produce. Any further detail you can give would help my google search.
