I currently wear a 16/18 or XL/1X. I have found lots of XL or Plus Size from Motherhood's website, Walmart's XL fit well and like a 1X, also JC Penney and Old Navy. Also, I found some items on ebay by just searching for 1x maternity clothes. Another spot - check out your local craigslist in the baby/kids section or just do a search on maternity clothes. Also, this site is for a store here in Michigan - it's a consignment shop - and I have ordered from there previously also. http://cravingstyle.com/
Do you have a Burlington's Coat Factory near you? If so they have maternity clothes at decent prices.
I have been having the best luck at Kohl's. Surprisingly size L has been fitting me the best in both tops and bottoms. Normally I'm a size 14/16 so with the large being 12/14 and xl being 16-18, I'm somewhere in the middle!! Tops sometimes have to go XL depending on the style. I'm not one to wear clingy tops to begin with because I like to hide as much as I can!
I also found a lot of things at Motherhood but there again, you have to look for the styles that are more flowy than clingy because I do think that makes a huge difference in the size you need also. Though, some of those flowy styles with the ruching in at the chest can make my boobs look like torpedos! (thats what I say, anyway...LOL)
It's frustrating to have such small selections...you'd think you would be able to find a better selection places....Oh, have you tried Sears? They also actually have a decent maternity section.
Kohls and old navy for me with my last pregnancy. I am 5'1 and about 165 and old navy has the right height for me!!! I have also but used clothes at stores around here that sell used baby stuff. I got some awesome motherhood jeans for $4 each. Ebay also has great deals!!
Bridgette, I didn't gain much weight either. When I had my first 2 children I was smaller & I gained more weight with those pregnancies. I think being bigger to start with, our bodies don't need extra weight gain. I am 5'9" & in the 180's, not sure of the exact number because I don't keep track anymore. I usually wear a 14 or 16 & I noticed that being heavier I didn't get wider this time only my boobs & belly got bigger. My biggest fear was that people weren't going to be able to tell that I was preg & just think I was fat. Thank God for the way maternity clothes are cut, you could definitely see a baby belly. I bought maternity clothes from Kohl's & walmart.com. Kohls had great clearance if you bought summer clothes at the end of summer etc.
Oh Kristen, you hit the nail on the head with that!!! I was trying to explain to DH what plus-size petite was - LOL Luckily that's what I found at Kohls. All of the pants at Motherhood were waaaay too long.
I've heard Old Navy has good stuff, but haven't made it over there yet. I've tried shopping at JC Penny's but yet to find their maternity section?? I don't think the one near me has one in store. But that is where I bought my bras online.
I haven't gained any weight yet either. Lost a couple of pounds in my first tri-mester (even though no m/s). I'm so worried that I'm just going to balloon out overnight and then none of the maternity clothes I just bought are going to fit anymore.
I think, Bridgette, that the hardest part is finding clothes that fit us since we are so short! It's one thing to be a plus size and match the height, but I too am not a skinny chicky and I'm short! I'm 5'2" and 160. Good news is that I haven't gained any weight thus far, and I am just over 17 weeks. I like the shirts from Motherhood Maternity very much, and they come in fairly large sizes. Their XL in shirts is a pretty nice size. As far as shorts, I love Old Navy's shorts. Again, their XL is a pretty large size. Pants I have a harder time with there because of the length. JC Penney has a nice selection of maternity work clothes, and they have plus sizes too!
Hey girls I've actually have not purchased much maternity clothes because my sisters are so excited that they have done most of the shopping for me lol but that is actually really good since I can't really be out shopping more than 15 mins at a time(bedrest) my sisters have purchased most of the clothes for me at Old Navy... they have good specials and I love the way they fit....I have purchase couple of things from motherhood too they have some good deals too just have to look for them I think you should be fine with the XL I have some XL that fit me loose and I am 22+wks
Well as far as clothes im not sure. Since my last pregnancy i did not buy any maternity clothes. Where i did get some my first pregnancy was from motherhood. For bras try fredricks of hollywood because i know they have F cups and up to 42 around. Since that is where i always shop and you can usually get 2 for $49. Right now my pre-pregnancy size is 18/20 so i have no clue what i will be doing for clothes if i need them.
I have looked online, but I still have all my clothes from before I lost my 70 pounds, so i will try wearing those, I have not gained any weight, and my breast have not change in size really.
