One way to look at it is.... that was then, this is now. Remember, we cannot change the past. What has happened has happened.... you've got the fond memories to reflect upon and the other memories to learn from. It does not need to be negative.... even with a perceived negative, there is a positive. (Something as simple as... "that single thing is not happening now...)
There is grieving periods for almost everything considered a loss. For some it's longer. The time is meant to be used to put this behind you. Go over everything... reap the good and learn from the experience.
This may or may not sound silly to you, but let me offer it up. Some people feel as if there is no good or bad, but rather desirable and perhaps less desirable. It is all good, but to different levels. I am one of those who believes all things happen for a reason.
My spiritual advisor told it to me like this.... (I'll be paraphrasing) Our time here on earth is like college. We are here to learn life lessons, and for each of us at any given time, we can all be learning different lessons at the same time. In order for us to move to the other side (heaven, if you will), we need to learn all of lifes lessons.
The memories and experiences are there for us to enjoy and learn from. Take it all in. In time, you will be ok with everything if you concentrate on it. Offer true forgiveness if necessary, and it will be given to you.
Thank you for your words. It is strange & you realize just how tied together the memories & experiences are.
Although it is tough to forget 28 years, it is essential to move forward. Forgive yourself, and look forward to everything ahead. Much learning has taken place and there's so much more to learn.
Open your mind, relax, and take it all in.
