I dont think that unless it is a contact sport like football or things like that it would matter about Chiari. It dont stop you from doing the things you like. My daughter is 5 and can do all normal things just with caution. She had decompression surgery about 7 weeks ago.
I had not heard this before...interesting
Well it's sad that high profile celebrities are more worried about how it would affect their careers if it was thought to be a serious condition....well for those of us who are affected seriously, day in & day out, people need to know more about it & not let the true seriousness be swept under the rug....
ok, that was my rant for the moment lol...to be continued, I'm sure
Chiari symptoms do cycle, and I remember when mind did as well, but then a time came when they were here and not going away...so I could no longer forget like I use to...
A nfl player by the name of Bruce Matthews has it and is still playing in the nfl. I think it effects everyone so differenty. I know for me, Somedays I feel awful, other days I forget I have it. This condition hits evebody in a different way. But I sure am glad we have each other to seek advice from or if nothing else to empathize with. I appreciate you all
Yes Roseann Cash has it and had surgery as well as the golfer J.B. Holmes
The only problem with their status is they do not want neone to think they can not continue to work or that this can be limiting that when an article is published is it all the old out dated info included and it angers me...it is not the complete picture of how chiari affects us.
I think Roseanne Cash(Johnny Cash's daughter) also had it, not for sure, but hey, I guess it's not discriminatory as far as social class huh?
Hi...I do not think it is a congenital chiari malformation, but an acquired chiari from a fall....it still required surgery...since he did not have the loss of space in the cerebellum part of the skull I am sure this is y he made a much better recovery....as he has the space inside there...but a fall , jolt, whatever can force the tonsils down further....and he had a fall during the filming of Syriana.(sp?)
His family did donate money to a brain clinic or something like that as a family member had a brain tumor or something....so, there is a Brain Clinic with the Clooney name attached that was where he had his surgery.
I was not aware of the CSF leak...and that could have perpetuated the tonsils being pulled down when he fell....could very well be.....
