I really hear your distress around feeling out of control with your eating. It can be a very scary and confusing thing. There could be many reasons why you are binging. It could be as a result of medical, nutritional, and/or emotional reasons. Unfortunately, there is no simple answer. I would recommend starting the process by making an appointment with your primary care physician to rule out any medical reasons. Secondly, you may seek the professional services of a dietitian. A dietitian can help you with nutritional education; identifying how much energy your body needs daily; and increasing mindfulness around meals. Finally, as food is often used to cope with emotional distress, I recommend speaking with a mental health therapist to explore and identify any underlying emotional distress that may be triggering the binging.
