Thank you very much for your guidance. I have decided not to have my uterus removed - didn't think it necessary either.
Problem is, I'm an expat in Dubai and there's not a huge choice of recommended surgeons.
Providing there is nothing wrong with your uterus and ovaries, a hysterectomy is not necessary for Pelvic Organ Prolapse in many instances. I would suggest you see a board certified Urogynecologyist if you are considering surgery for Pelvic Organ Prolapse and get a second opinion. J. Kyle Mathews, MD
I would not remove uterus or cervix as they play an important role in the whole pelvic floor and are BEST NOT REMOVED. Women should NOT accept old thinking that once women no longer intend to have children, uterus and cervix have no use.... WRONG!!!
New techniques are far less invasive and have very good results. Look up the work done by Professor Peter Petros http://www.integraltheory.org
PLEASE seek the services of a surgeon familiar with TFS (Tissue Fixation System) Procedure for prolapse.
There are great surgeons who have a holistic approach and understand the importance of all female organs working in unison. These surgeons do not advocate removal of any organs.
Good Luck.
