I was born in 40's and the only thing about myself was I had a very small penis and testicles then tested way later in life found to have autism +dd they never checked anything out in my day.I would see the dr as I was married so sex is not off the table.
I have the same worry fo rmy kid, has anything helpful come along in the seven years since this was posted?
Dear Sir:
Micropenis is not treated with Testosterone. Using it inappropriately can cause premature stunting of bone growth and aggressive behavior. By that age, it's better to focus on building up self-esteem and having another male who this boy can in some way express his concerns to and do so throughout puberty. Most other boys do not make fun of others with a small penis, they just find it a curiosity...as they do with boys who have a very large penis or who have entered puberty early. Also, give it time, in some cases penis growth takes place at different times. He may appear to have a small penis when flaccid, but it may be much larger when erect. Before assuming it's very small, it would be wise to observe his penis erect.
If the kid is feeling down because of a physical problem the job of the doctor is to help the kid out and not just blow it off and tell the kid "oh it doesn't matter." If a doctor played that way with my child, I would find another more compassionate doctor.
Definitely try to get him as much treatment as possible for micropenis while he's still growing. Soon he will be interested in girls and women. Micropenis quite frankly is a lot more debilitating than autism.
Put him on testosterone therapy. Do not let this go. It could destroy his future love life and self-esteem from the inside out.
Hmm, perhaps you should try to make an appointment with a urologist,to get this evaluated, in the event something can be done.
My come back to SOB insensitive doctors like your son's would be:
--"Is this what you would say to YOUR 12 year old boy doc?"
-- Ah....
--- "Didn't think so"
Best wishes.
Niko
