Is it HSV1

Hello everybody,

I had a series of unprotected oral sex encounters. During one of the encounters, with a CSW I engaged with about 4 times, I gave and received oral sex. I realized about STDs after two days in a barber shop and fell down. 5 days after the encounter, in my upper thigh I saw a small pimple that was painless and caused minimal pain when touched. After another 5-6 days developed another pimple a little upwards from it. Again no pain and minimal pain when touched. By that time the first pimple was finishing off. Could it be Herpes? I discussed it with a doc who said herpes is pain and comes in blisters clustered together. Can somebody please guide me

The pimple did not burst to become a sore it just died away

While you can get genital hsv1 from receiving oral sex, what you are describing doesn't sound at all like it.

It sounds like pimples or infected hair follicles. Your doctor doesn't think it's herpes, either.

If you are going to engage in unprotected oral sex, you should know that you can get gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and genital hsv1 from receiving oral sex. If you are giving oral, you can get oral gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and possibly oral hsv2.

Oral sex is much lower risk than vaginal or anal, but there is still risk. Giving oral to someone with a vaginal is lower risk than receiving oral. Giving oral to someone with a penis is higher risk than to someone with a vagina, but still not incredibly high risk.

If you want to test, you'll need both genital and oral testing.

I wouldn't freak out - oral sex is lower risk than vaginal and anal sex.

Thank you very much for your reply.

There are two concerns that I have:

1) The timing of these pimples/hair follicles and their occurence during the 2-12 days symptom period of herpes
2) I read on the CDC website that herpes can be mistaken for pimple and ingrown hair which leads me to the question as to what are the mild symptoms of herpes when we read about it? Plus should herpes blisters always have pain? Has the doctor misdiagnosed?

I have got myself tested for HIV and Syphilis. Day 52 results for  both came out as negative. Couldn't do a test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia since oral swabs aren't done where I live. In this regards, the doc told me to have a Ceftriaxone shot for Gonorrhea and Doxycycline for chlamydia. Hep B test revealed that I have immunity and Hep C came negative on day 24.

Plus what are the chances of acquiring HSV in the mouth by one episode of giving oral sex? 2nd assuming that I have received unprotected oral sex 10 times from a half dozen women is it guaranteed that I have acquired genital herpes?

We have no stats on herpes transmission from oral sex. It just hasn't been studied.

We know that 67% of the population under 50 globally has hsv1. If you already have it, you can't get it again. Unless you get a blood test, you can't know if you have it, and even then, the hsv1 blood test misses 30% of infections.

Oral sex is lower risk than vaginal or anal sex, so nothing is guaranteed. Chances are better that you didn't get anything than you did.

Herpes sores generally hurt, and generally appear on your genitals, not your thighs, though they can appear on your thighs.

The doctor didn't think they were herpes, so go with that.

You didn't really need to be treated for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Chances of infection from oral sex is lower than with vaginal and anal, and you had no risk for HIV or hep B. Those aren't transmitted by oral sex.

Since this gives you such anxiety, either stop seeing CSWs, or use protection.
Ok today it's about 75 days since the encounter. I had those pimples after 5-6 days and another one after 11 days after the encounter.

Coming forward to today, I started feeling unwell a couple of days back and today in the left thigh another pimple/ blister with a red base cropped up. Again little pain. As I am writing this the pain is non existent or a minor discomfort at best. Like the last two pimples this one also came on the left thigh but a little downward. Any guidance please.
Go to the doctor today and get them swabbed and tested for herpes. Don't put anything on it, don't squeeze them or try to pop them, just get to a doctor.

If it's night time where you are and you can't get to a doctor, then go within 24-48 hrs of the sores appearing.

Any doctor should be able to swab these for culture.

Just get them tested, or every time you get anything, you will wonder.
Ok. Here is the update

Pimple discovered on Wednesday evening, 24 Jan. Next day went to a dermatologist in the morning who looked at it and said it is not herpes. Then went to an Infectious diseases specialist whom I have previously shown who said it is folliculitis. I asked him to swab me to which he replied that it is so small that at best only 0.1 ml of liquid will come out which is not enough so can't be swabbed right now. Then same night showed another dermatologist who said that it is folliculitis and informed me that there is another folliculitis on my left buttock thigh area.

Fast forward to yesterday 29 Jan. Showed this to another infectious disease doc. By this time, this pimple could not be seen but I had previously shared by email the pics of pimple as to how it had evolved over each day. He also couldn't locate the 2nd pimple on butt. He said doesn't look like herpes to me and looks more like folliculitis. According to him, thigh is an unusual area for herpes and herpes presents itself with a bigger painful ulcer though it can be a single lesion. He was like even if you had told me that this pimple was on your penis, I would not have taken this as herpes.

Now there are 2 things which still bother me. According to this website: https://dermnetnz.org/topics/folliculitis
follicultis can be caused by Herpes Simplex and second the timing of the popping up of these pimples. Is it just coincidental? First time pimples occurred after 5 and 11 days respectively after the encounter. 2nd time, 1 to 2 days after getting sick. Now my question is: Can herpes outbreaks present as pimples always? And can herpes present as folliculitis? And should I be worried? My greatest worry is transmission to my wife and child
So first, you will not ever transmit herpes to a child unless you have inappropriate sexual contact with them. Put that out of your mind.

So far, FIVE doctors have said this wasn't herpes. FIVE. This means it's not herpes.

Yes, herpes can sometimes present as folliculitis. It's far more likely to present as blisters. If your doctors thought this looked like herpes, they'd test you.

Talk to your doctor about your anxiety. Talk to a counselor about your guilt for going outside your marriage, and deal with that. That's your real issue here, not herpes. Five doctors have said it wasn't herpes. Let it go.
I am saying that I fear I could transmit HSV to my child by simple kissing since I had given oral sex to the CSW.

Another update: 2 pimples popped up on Wednesday apparently. One near the one discovered on 24 Jan near the left inner thigh. Another one popped up on the right thigh near the scrotum. Both had white heads. What is happening right now I really don't know but just like the first time pimples (that came after 5 and 11 days of exposure) came one after the other except the fact that this time it was two and it came on the other leg as well. Emailed the pics to my doctor who said this is  typical of folliculitis and not herpes at all.

As of today, after two days,  it seems that both these pimples are reducing in size. Any guidance please? The more I try to move on, the more I get engulfed in it
My fear is if the doctors have screwed it up
