I understand your frustration. I have a couple of things going on - NAFLD (Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease) and a 4.3cm hemangioma in my left lobe. I found out by going to the ER with RUQ pain that seemed to be getting worse and and not addressed by my primary doc. Yes, I am 5'2" and had a 22cm liver. I'm sure that could cause pain, which is what the Hepatologist said the pain was from. But I've successfully reduced my triglycerides from 977 to 240. I would assume my liver would shrink??? If it did (I am waiting to see my new Dr. - a Gastroenterologist (sp?) - then I am left to assume the pain is from the hemangioma. The pain has not subsided substantially. I was on 15mg MSContin twice daily and 5mg oxycodone every 6 hours for breakthrough pain. I discontinued the oxycodone after getting my most recent blood results myself to see if I was still experiencing the same pain, and I am for the most part. The only change is I think I need the oxycodone once or twice a day as opposed to all the time. That is not ok with me. I've been in chronic pain a year and half and I HATE having to take narcotics for this long. I should be better. But even though I have done everything I was told diet and medication-wise, I have reduced lipids, I am still very bloated (I was mistakenly called pregnant - the humilation!), in good amount of pain, can't sleep on my right side or lean against anything that puts pressure on my abdomen, and nauseated. I honestly think hemangiomas are dismissed all too often as being a source of pain. I have yet to meet a Dr that is willing to concede the possibility. Maybe with this new Dr I will get a fresh opinion. I don't know...I went to 4 Dr.s years ago, dismissed by all when I tried to tell them something wasn't right with me. By the 5th the finally found my thyroid cancer and where it had spread to. By then I had to go through surgery and 2 radiation treatments. Maybe we just have to be persistent until we find Dr.s who will really listen to us.
I only found the help that i need after look actually for oncologist doctor, liver and gastro surgeon...they know better than us that anything that is growing inside you out of proportion, in the wrong place, it is going to hurt....
The pain is like if you go swimming to soon after eating. It's dull and aching..I hope you feel better, I'm 34 and I feel like I'm falling apart..
I have asmall liver hemangioma. They found it incidentally while working me up for other GI discomfort. I have a lot of nausea and upper GI stuff. It is all left sided mainly. They found it on CT scan and then did a MRI because they couldn't identify it on the CT scan. What kind of pain are you having?
