Yes, that's right. Its an automatic thing in most places now, and it prevents severe eye infections in babies who might have been born with an std.

Question on the eye infections in newborns.
My health class was discussing this the other day and the doctor brought in to talk to us informed us now it's state law that every child must have this gluppy stuff put into their eyes to prevent infections.
The doctor never answered why it's a state law... wondered if you might know and she also stated the stuff was suppose to help with incase the mother did have an std without knowing it.
Is that right?
You can get gonorrhea, syphilis, urethritis and hsv1 from someone giving you oral sex.
The symptoms you describe might be from gonorrhea or urethritis, or it could be anxiety.
I can't say anything about your eye because you've had problems with it before. Its very unlikely to get any of these in your eyes. Most std infections of the eye are in newborns whose mothers had an std at delivery.
