You may need to try a good natural solution and make sure you have the best nit comb available. For my money, the best I have seen is the Terminator by NitFree and they have other good lice products as well.

Here's something else to try.... First pick through the hair and remove as many live ones and eggs as you can. Then, use cotton balls (anything) and apply LIBERALLY regular Rubbing Alcohol to her head. Leave it to dry naturally, then shampoo. Once hair is dry re-check her for more live ones and nits. You may need to do this a couple of times, but in past experience this has ALWAYS worked.
Good Luck
This is tongue in cheek to make you feel better , I Tutored the chidren of a very Famous movie star several years ago(I wont divulge his name)his 2 kids had lice, all the time it seemed ,they tried everything and although they went to a famous Kindergarten in Santa Monica whenever the school found lice, Home they went with a note to "Please delice this child" the house keepers frantically washed the sheets everyone combed their hair with a supply of tooth combs left for their use. This went on for months then one day the lice packed up and left, so it is possible they simply give up if you are very persistenat and accept it will happen probably every year. even to movie stars!!
Head Lice is very difficult for parents to get rid of. The nits and nymphs (baby lice) are basically microscopic when they are first released or hatched. Many of the over the counter products are simply not effective.
If you are having a difficult time getting rid of them then try contacting a professional head lice removal service. We tried Nit Picky, their service is excellent and reasonable. They will also teach you what to look for and how to follow up and prevent a reinfestation..I suggest calling them first to save time and money in the long run.

I had a similar problem when my daughter was little. She had head lice a couple of times and I was able to get rid of them for periods of time each time but then she got them again and I was at my wits end trying to get rid of them. I had an exterminator come to spray the house and he told me what the prob was. First he told me that lice can live for up to 3 days off of the body, I didn't know that. The real prob however was my daughter's bed. It was a water bed. He told me to get rid of that and I would be able to get rid of the lice. He was so right!!! Hope this helps!
When our daughter got headlice, we went searching for some environmentally-friendly solutions. We found www.envirobody.com online. They have a great comb, and they're Canadian (but have a US warehouse, too). The ones we had used before always seemed to break or to not get all the nits out, and that would mean we'd have to start all over again. Their other head lice products work very well in addition to the comb.
Hopefully we wont' have to use them again, but who knows! Seems like there are outbreaks at the school quite frequently.
It is so frustrating! At my house we tried RID and it didn't work. The school nurse said put Cooking Oil on her head with a plastic bag. It didn't work. And then the doctor said to put mayo on her head with a bath cap overnight. In the morning all the adult lice were gone. Then, we washed her hair. If you do the mayo or oil thing make sure you wash her hair with ULTRA CONCENTRATED DAWN dish washing soap. Then, only the eggs were left, so we are picking those out today. Or, you could try NIX. Keep doing this treatment repeatedly until it is all gone, if it never goes away, then you will have to shave her hair off. (no joking)
Okay, Ive had lice for about 4 years, no joke. And I have THICK hair, and its the same color of lice! I think I got it from my cousin, but im not sure, and i try to pick niks and adult lice with my fingers, but my thumb ends up bleeding, its so frustrating sometimes that I actually cry. That is my biggest insecurity, and I have to take extra precautions, like not letting my friends play with my hair, and its hard for me to be a kid, I really need some help, please, ill try anything, except for shaving and gasoline.
